A Saucerful of Secrets

Let There Be MORE band members!

A step up from their first album! Could it be that the addition of guitarist David Gilmour was a good thing?? The only album in the bands catalogue to feature all 5 band members. The albbum starts well with Let There Be More Light. Remember A Day is also fine. Set the Controls is great! Corporal Clegg is fun too.

The Title track is an interesting one. It's quite difficult to get through the first 9 minutes or so, but if you manage to do so then you are rewarded with one of the most beautiful pieces that the band ever created! An excerpt of the song dubbed "Celestial Voices". When the band performs this song live it is one of their best works. My favorite version of the song is from their Live At Pompeii Album from 1972. a highlight of the album for sure.

See-Saw is another lovely song and Jugband Blues is Syd Barretts final contribution to the band! A pretty solid album! In my opinion there are just a lot less throwaway songs on this album than on The Piper At The Gates of Dawn.
