The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking

An album that I’ve known and enjoyed for quite some time, but just recently found it on vinyl! Very good music on here. Roger clearly felt he had a point to prove with his first solo album and first album after leaving Pink Floyd. But who do you recruit to replace DAVID GILMOUR?? Well, no one can replace David Gilmour, but if you had to try Eric Clapton is not a bad shout…

Between Claptons guitar, Roger’s poetry, and the charged saxophone throughout the album, this album is a joy to listen to. Some pretty crazy themes in there (as always, it’s a Roger Waters album).

I’ll admit you definitely need to be in the mood for this kind of album. A lot of quiet Roger singing type stuff. Like he frequently does. But when the time is right, this album hits.

Some highlights include Running Shoes, Go Fishing, Every Strangers Eyes, and my personal favorite is the title track. The solo on the title track is just so killer.

Roger’s best album? Hmmm…. Maybe. Definitely this or Amused to Death. Hard to say. Couple of very good albums!
