The Final Cut
The Final Cut
Well I’m probably the first and only person in history that can say that the first Pink Floyd album they ever heard was The Final Cut. But it’s true. And it makes this a special album for me. For a long time I would defend this album to the death. And I still would. But I don’t rate it quite as highly as I used to. I still think it’s a good album.
A major fall off from The Wall for sure. But such nice tunes like The Gunner’s Dream, Southampton Dock, The Post War Dream, and The Final Cut. I really like the softer(ish) feel of this album.
I could use some more of David’s vocals but I hate the notion that this is a “Roger Water’s Solo Album”. Without David’s distinct guitar all over this album it would sound nothing the same. Very clearly a Pink Floyd album but I understand what people mean.
So yeah… good album. Not a great album. But I like it a lot and it’s special to me.
